Character analysis of John Kumalo

Private Life:
He was also a priest and use to go to church but when he came to Johannesburg he decided not to be a priest any longer. He became corrupted by all the power that he received. He lies in order to protect his son but he does not care if his brother's son has to be killed. He is only concerned about himself and his worldly possessions.

Public Life:
He was respected and received a lot of praise from the public. He stood up for what he believed in. He said whatever he felt like saying. He was not afraid of anyone.

Peoples' perception:
Some people respect him and see him as a wise man. But his brother and Msimangu are disappointed in him- he lies and he longer is a priest. He is also very well known and wealthy.
